Product Recall: Some Fresh Express Salad Products
No Comments
Due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes (mono-cy-toe-gen-eez), Fresh Express is recalling some of its salad products.
Fresh Express and the US FDA have announced a voluntary recall of 2,825 cases of Veggie Lovers Salad with product code of I208 and use-by date of August 10. Fortunately, no illness has been reported yet.
Listeria monocytogenes is a facultative intracellular bacterium that causes Listeriosis — a relatively rare bacterial infection that occurs primarily in newborn infants, elderly patients, and patients who are immunocompromised.
What's going on with Fresh Express? All they did recently was recall their salad products: last month because of possible E. coil contamination and in May, ready-to-eat salads were recalled due to salmonella contamination. So, please contact the proper authorities in case you have purchased the said recalled salad product.
